Hi everyone. I’m Sydney. I am a very good natured 6 yr old minpin who has had a tough life until now. I was dumped by my owners at a California shelter with one of the worst flea infestations the shelter staff had ever seen. My owners couldn’t even be bothered to spend a few dollars getting me flea medication. I was filthy dirty, my coat dull and my nails had not been cut in years. I was very scared and hid at the back of the kennel so no one wanted to adopt me. I was scheduled to be euthanized when A Better Life agreed to rescue me. Now that I have been in foster care for a few days, I am flea free and my coat is soft, clean and shiny and I am quickly coming out of my shell.
My foster family has noticed thatI have really come to life lately; my eyes are brighter and I’ve become way more playful and active. I’ve become much more confident and affectionate. I just got my teeth cleaned and now seem to really enjoy eating all of my food.
I am a very gentle, calm and loving dog. I am so tiny and quiet, and very submissive. I love people and am interested in other animals too. I am good with older kids but not younger ones as I growl/snap if people go near me when I have a marrow bone anywhere near me, or sometimes just if I am scared. I have started to growl and bark at visitors, I am getting very protective of my family! I’m a very smart girl and a fast learner so it shouldn’t be too long! They will continue to work with me on this.
My favorite thing is to snuggle beside you on the sofa. I am a low energy dog and not a big fan of going outside in cold, rainy weather. I’m a pro and speedy bathroom breaks – I go out, do my business and come back in! I really am a couch potato. However, my foster family has noticed I’m enjoying our longer walks in the evening. If you let me I love to sleep in your bed (I’m the perfect little heater on cold nights).
I’m good in the car but I should have a harness or be in my kennel as I like to explore and wander all over the car while you’re driving, and I do try to sit in your lap. When left alone I don’t chew things or make a mess; I wait quietly and calmly for you to return.
If you would love a low maintenance and easy going dog who will be happiest lying by your side then I’m your girl. My adoption fee is $350.
