Kaeli's story...

Hi, I’m Kaeli. I am 58lb, 1 year old black lab/border collie mix and it is a miracle that I am still alive. I had managed to survive as a homeless puppy on the streets of Iran until I was rescued by Vafa Shelter. There are very many stray dogs in Iran — but only a few people consider adopting them. So with the kind help of a passenger who flew back from Iran to Vancouver and agreed to take me with him, I was able to start a new life in Canada earlier this year.

I’m very smart, playful and energetic. I need to be in an active, adult-only home where I can be the center of attention and give and receive a lot of love. I need space to run and would love a yard or acreage with other dogs. I am good in the car and love to go for rides. I’m great on hikes and love running on the beach.  As for cats, I’ve learned to respect the one that I currently live with, but that cat isn’t a kitten so that’s probably why I’m okay with it for now.

Also, since I am quite smart I need lots of mental stimulation, so I believe I can really shine in agility courses. I’m a proud graduate from puppy school and know my basic commands like sit, down, stay (sort of), and shake a paw. I am still learning some things, like not getting too excited when seeing squirrels.

I am very polite on the leash and am ok with older children but I see small children as my equal and can be dominant with them. I love going to dog parks and playing with other dogs. I am also a wonderful snuggler, and enjoy calm and quiet times when at home.

While I can be a good girl, I need a handler that understands me and can train me with patience, confidence and leadership.  I would make a wonderful companion for someone who is looking for an active and affectionate dog.

My adoption fee is $350.
