Elvis (Franco)'s story...

Attention all terrier lovers!!! My name is Elvis (but some people call me Franco). I am a 1-year-old terrier mix who was part of a rescue mission from California. I and a number of other dogs were saved from death at a high-kill shelter, where many adoptable dogs go and never come out. It’s so overcrowded that few of us get a chance.

Fortunately, I was one of the lucky few. I’m so excited about finding a forever home here in beautiful BC. My foster family says I am loving, sweet and funny! I’m a very nice guy who gets along with all other animals: cats, rabbits, dogs -you name it, if it breathes oxygen, I love it! I adore making new friends, human or otherwise. In fact, I am quite smitten with a visiting Jackhuahua dog and love playing with her. I also love my people – I rarely leave your side. I love to be on your lap, but if not there, then at your feet. If you ignore me I will hop up on my back legs and beg with my front feet to get your attention. When my foster mom goes to work, I jump in the car before she can say “no”! (She says it’s hard to say “no” to me because of my big, beautiful eyes).

I’m a happy, playful dog and I capture hearts with my big brown eyes and scruffy, lovable face – check out my goatee, cool, huh? When I play, with either another dog or with the children in my foster home, I get so excited I make a growly sound – it isn’t growling of course – it is just me verbalizing my pleasure and excitement. I do like to chew, so my foster family is supplying me with toys I can nibble on to my heart’s content. I love playing with other dogs and I love my toys. I’m good on and off leash.

My foster mom says I’ve improved amazingly since they got me. When I first arrived I was fearful of everyone, but my foster mom says that has changed. She takes me to her grooming salon and walks me down a busy street and I no longer snap or bark at people. On the trails on hikes I am good with everyone I meet. However, if I see two large men coming into the shop I do bark at them. But, I stop barking if my foster mom tells me to. She calls me Mr. Personality. I am also the only foster dog who she has allowed to sleep on the bed. She says she just can’t resist my big brown eyes.

I am a smart cookie and a willing learner, so you can teach me lots of new stuff. How about some tricks? I now fight the urge to chase the cats more often too, I just want to play but I have learned to respect the kitties’ personal space.

I just went camping with my foster family and I loved it – I even went horseback riding. My foster mom brought me up on her horse when my little feet got tired of walking and she couldn’t stop giggling – the sight of my little ears bouncing up and down while we trotted along was too funny. Check out the photo of me horseback riding below, and also the series of me rolling happily in the dust!

My foster mom says I make her feel happy and loved. I will do the same for any family! My adoption fee is $350.
